Jammeh has refused to heed the pleas of continental leaders to hand over power to the winner of the presidential election.
He rather filed a petition at the supreme court to challenge the victory of Barrow.
Despite the fact that the apex court could not sit as a result of its inability to form quorum, Jammeh got his country’s parliament to extend his tenure by three months.

He also declared a 90-day state of emergency backed by Gambia’s national assembly.

Sengal, which gave Jammeh an ultimatum of Wednesday midnight to step down, moved close to Gambia’s border hours to the deadline.
Ghana and Nigeria are among the countries that have deployed troops to the standby ECOWAS force, which is set to end the 22-year rule of Jammeh.
