Boko Haram Kidnaps 100 And Kills 8 In Cameroon
Cameroon discloses new details about Boko Haram overnight attack on Tchakarmari in the northern part of the country.
The News informs that earlier report indicated that seven persons were killed and 20 kidnapped.
However, according to the latest information based on the estimates of local government and military sources, at least eight people were killed and about 100 others were kidnapped.
The source notes that Tchakarmari lies north of Maroua, where dozens of people were killed in a series of suicide bombings by the Nigerian Islamist group last month.
An anonymous source in local government said: “Residents said the attackers headed back to Nigeria where Cameroon is not allowed to pursue them”.
One of the senior military officers disclosed that the attackers had crossed over from Nigeria shortly after midnight.
It is important to note that for struggle against Boko Haram Cameroon has already deployed about 7,000 troops as part of a regional force which includes Chad, Niger and Nigeria.
